John Ferry is a distinguished professor of chemistry and biochemistry in the UIS School of Integrated Sciences, Sustainability, and Public Health. His research areas include environmental chemistry, toxicology, microbial ecology, and science outreach.

Supervisor Development Workshop Series
This regular series offered by UIS Human Resources provided timely information and trainings to supervisors. Topics included hiring and retention tips, access and equity, FOIA, addressing employee conflict and more.
Fall 2023 Employee Information Session
Faculty and staff heard from Chancellor Gooch, Dr. Ken Kriz and Dr. Vickie Cook about important university priorities, including budget and enrollment, and had the opportunity to ask questions of university leadership.
Fall 2023 Rise Professional Development Retreat
In response to faculty and staff feedback, UIS offered its inaugural Rise Professional Development Retreat for Civil Service/Academic Professional staff and Faculty. A multidisciplinary team of UIS colleagues developed an exciting half-day retreat focused on Workplace Wellness. Workshops offered the opportunity to understand how to challenge the culture of stress.
Faculty-Staff 2023-24 Academic Year Kickoff
This kickoff event was a renewed all-employee assembly intended to kick off the new academic year together. Attendees heard from the chancellor and each vice chancellor about their goals for the 2023-24 academic year, and introductory information about our newest faculty colleagues and administrators also was shared.
