Feeling Ducky? Ready to go duck wild?

Get ready to put your ducktective skills to work with the UIS campus-wide duck hunt! From Monday, October 27, at 8:00 AM through Friday, October 31, at 3:00 PM, the hunt is on—unless all the ducks are rescued sooner. Winners will be announced after 3:00 PM on Halloween (because what is spookier than a duck with a QR code?).

To all website editors and unit heads,

You spoke and we listened! The Web Team is excited to announce new website features designed to make editing and creating pages easier and more dynamic.

To Employees Served by the State Universities Civil Service System:

We are issuing a retraction of the previously distributed notice regarding the upcoming election for the State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee (SUCSAC).

If you could not attend our Fall Employee Information Session last Wednesday, Oct. 16, in Brookens Auditorium, the Office of Electronic Media has provided the following recording so you can hear updates about university priorities for the upcoming year from Chancellor Gooch and other members of Cabinet.

On October 29, join us in honoring our incredible faculty and staff who make the campus community so special. As part of the celebration, shoppers who spend $75 or more on apparel and gifts will receive a complimentary, school-branded tote—our way of saying thank you (while supplies last).

UIS Community,

On October 24, 2025, between 9:30 am and 10:30 am, law enforcement officers from the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield, Ãå±±½ûµØ State Police, Ãå±±½ûµØ Secretary of State Police, and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in a dignitary protection training exercise on campus.

The training will take place in the area around Sangamon Auditorium and will involve officers wearing suits and earpieces, as well as a single large tactical vehicle that will be part of a simulated motorcade.

Greetings,

Between October 20-24, Facilities will begin testing the heating systems in the legacy campus buildings to prepare for the colder months ahead. These tests will primarily take place in the early mornings to minimize any disruption to your day.

As with starting a home furnace after a long break, you may notice a temporary odor when the systems are activated. This is a normal part of the process and should dissipate quickly.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. please don't hesitate to contact us with questions or concerns.

Dear Campus Community,

As many of you are already aware, Amazon AWS is experiencing a significant outage today. Many of the companies that UIS works with are impacted by the outage, which means that many services are currently unavailable (Canvas, Kaltura, Email+, some of the library databases, etc.).

Thank you for your patience while we wait for Amazon AWS to be fully restored.

Dear Campus Community,

The annual fire drills for this year will be conducted on Thursday November 6th and Friday November 7 for the UIS campus. Please pay special attention to your building assembly points as some have been revised for the ease of assembly by location.

The roofing contractor will have a crane on site Tuesday morning, October 21, to place materials on the roof. The crane will be positioned on the west side of Founders, just off Eliza Farnham Drive. The bus stop on that corner will remain open and accessible. The red rectangle on the included image indicates the approximate location for the crane.

Please use caution if you need to travel near the residence hall. Construction zones and equipment placement areas will be marked to assist with navigation and ensure safety.
