Dear UIS Students, Faculty and Staff —
I am writing to confirm our COVID-19 requirements for Fall 2022. For the past two years, UIS has been United in Safety as we’ve responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are most grateful to be out of the emergency phase of the pandemic—thanks to vaccines, rapid testing and therapeutics—and are excited to be ushering in a new academic year later this month.
Our approach this fall will include the following requirements:

Dear members of the UIS Campus Community:
I am pleased to announce that on July 21, 2022, after campus-level review, the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Board of Trustees approved the following UIS faculty for tenure and/or promotion:

Dear Colleagues —
On June 1, President Killeen announced a 3.5 percent, merit-based salary program for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Similar to past years, this salary program is to be distributed at the discretion of the unit head. Distribution of the salary increases should be based on merit-based factors, including the employee’s 2022 performance evaluation. Employees will be deemed ineligible for an increase due to one of the following reasons:
Hello, UIS —
Hello, UIS—
Thank you for your warm welcome during my first full week on the job as your new Chancellor. I’m honored to follow such a smart and caring leader like Chancellor Whitney, and I’m impressed by all the changes you’ve navigated over the last two years, even in light of the biggest challenges many of us have ever faced. We’re perfectly poised to launch into the next chapter!
The following is an excerpt from University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield Chancellor Janet Gooch. The column appeared in The State Journal-Register on July 3, 2022.
"When I first stepped onto the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield campus, I was struck by the level of commitment to place and purpose. The energy was palpable, and the sense of promise was contagious.

Dear UIS Faculty and Staff —
It is my great honor to begin my work as your new UIS Chancellor. Last week, I worked alongside interim Chancellor Karen Whitney, who has led this university so capably and enthusiastically over the past two years. I greatly appreciate Dr. Whitney for serving as interim chancellor during such a challenging and transformative time, and for creating a positive momentum that will keep UIS thriving in the years to come.

Dear Colleagues,
This is my last email to you as Chancellor, and I must first simply say THANK YOU.
Thank you for the opportunity to lead UIS over the last two years. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to our mission, vision and values — and most of all, to our students. We were not just united in safety, we were united to each other and to our students. This inspired me to work every day to be the best Chancellor I could be for you, the students and our community.

Dear UIS Colleagues:
It’s hard to believe that today is my last Monday as your interim chancellor. Chancellor Designee Janet L. Gooch arrived on campus today, and we will work side-by-side over the next four days as she prepares for her first official day as chancellor on Friday, July 1.
