Dear Colleagues—

After much thought and consideration, the town hall scheduled for Wednesday morning to address the College of Business & Management climate study has been canceled. Our next steps will be to seek support from the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ System to determine another resource to assess the themes of concern in the college and develop an action plan.

Welcome to October! The air is a little crisper, and crops are being harvested all around our campus. We’re fully into the fall season, and campus is bustling with students, activities and other important items of note.

I’ve been enjoying seeing everyone on campus and getting to know our students. Now that the U of I State Tour has ended, I am looking forward to spending more time at events and gatherings – the excitement is palpable as we continue to enjoy a renewed sense of togetherness. Hopefully, this translates to high levels of engagement from students in your classes, activities and in your work spaces. After all, we’re all here for them — to ensure they have the best student experience possible.

Thanks so much to everyone who welcomed students to campus last week and to those who taught classes on Friday for our official first day. It’s so exciting to see the campus come alive! Please don’t forget: Our welcome-back activities continue this week. The Welcome Picnic is 4-6 p.m. today outside of the Student Union. It’s a great opportunity to mix and mingle with your colleagues and to show students our Prairie Star pride. Please come out and celebrate with us!
