Dear Faculty and Staff 鈥
I am pleased to share that we are close to completing the interview process with potential interim provost candidates to fill an approximate six-month term while we conduct a national search for our next permanent provost. I wanted to provide the opportunity for faculty and staff to share their thoughts regarding the areas in which the interim provost should focus during their brief time with us.

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
As we begin finals week and the end of 2022 quickly approaches, I鈥檓 thankful for all of the students, faculty and staff who have made this such a joyous year. Thank you for welcoming me into the Prairie Star family. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season filled with kindness, joy and time with family. In that spirit, I want to share with you a short video looking back at our first semester together.

Good afternoon, colleagues:
November is a month focused on gratitude, and as I reflect on my first few months as your chancellor, my appreciation for my new role grows and grows. UIS is a place where students come first, and to see that displayed in how you approach your work is so inspiring. I know these last few weeks of the semester will be busy, but let鈥檚 keep showing up each day dedicated to fulfilling our mission! Thank you for all you do to make UIS such a special university!
10.31.22
Good morning, colleagues:
The final day of October is here 鈥 it鈥檚 been a 鈥渢reat鈥 to see all of the fall-themed activities occurring on campus this past month! The Chancellor鈥檚 Office staff enjoyed participating in the Trunk or Treat event with the Cox Children鈥檚 Center children last Friday, and several of our students were out and about in the community yesterday collecting nearly 8,000 pounds of canned goods for the annual Trick or Treat for Canned Goods philanthropy. What a great way to combine service with the season!
10.27.22
Dear Colleagues 鈥
A critical way we contribute to our mission at UIS is helping our faculty and staff feel supported in their work and energized about their role in contributing to a positive university environment for all 鈥 this includes for our students and for one another as colleagues.
10.24.22
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff 鈥
Provost Dennis Papini has shared with me his decision to step down from his role as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost. I will be working to secure an interim provost, and once that appointment has been made, Dr. Papini will begin serving our university as a faculty member in the Department of Psychology in the College of Health, Science and Technology.
10.18.22
Good morning, colleagues:
We鈥檝e just passed the midpoint of the semester with midterm grades due Wednesday and accelerated fall classes beginning yesterday. Time is flying, and there鈥檚 a lot to share with you this week.
