Dear UIS Colleagues,

Our research team (consisting of Emily Boles (COLRS), Kara McElwrath (ITS), and Jennifer Martin (School of Education)) recently received IRB approval to conduct a study at UIS about student and professor experiences pre- and post-COVID. 

The instructor survey opens today, September 9. Please complete the survey by September 23. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes and you need only answer the questions you choose.

This issue spotlights how AI is reshaping education, careers, and research. Learn about the cultural and academic impacts of AI in higher ed, explore new research tools like Consensus, Elicit, and ChatPDF, and see how GenAI is influencing workforce readiness. We also share the 2024 UIS AI Steering Committee Report, plus upcoming events, career resources, and AI tools to try.

Janvi Sehdev of Jalandhar, Punjab, India, has been admitted to the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield for Spring Semester 2025 and awarded an $8,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years. She will major in computer science at UIS.

The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.
