Dear colleagues:

For the fiscal year that is about to begin we will have a 1% salary program across the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ System.

We deeply value the dedication and contributions of our faculty and staff. Now more than ever, you are the engine that drives the excellence that we promise and deliver to our students, their families and the people of our state. A 1% increase does not begin to fully reflect the immense impact of your work, but it does represent our acknowledgment of your efforts within the constraints of our current budget.

We want to emphasize that fiscal uncertainty — both at the state and federal levels — has impacted this year’s salary program. These concerns necessitate cautious stewardship of our resources to maintain the long-term strength and stability across the U of I System.

Pay adjustments for faculty and staff in bargaining units will be determined by negotiations with the bargaining representative and/or applicable contract settlements and are not subject to unilateral adjustments unless authorized or permitted pursuant to the collective bargaining process.

Expect additional guidance from our three universities soon.

I want to thank all of you for everything you do. Our world-class universities, the educational excellence we offer and the wide range of vital services the U of I System provides to the state of Ãå±±½ûµØ and its people are the sum of your work.

I am awed by all that you do and deeply grateful for your commitment to the U of I System and the public good.

Sincerely,

Tim Killeen, President, U of I System
