Besides the 12 million who have fled their country due to the current war, there is also a mass of Russian intellectuals, artists, and other citizens leaving Russia. Trauma related to exile figures prominently in Alexandra Pregel鈥檚 art. Pregel lost two countries that were dear to her heart.

The presents "Black Classical Composers: A Lecture-Demonstration With Violinist Chenoa Murphy" as part of its First Tuesday Brown Bag Concert Series. The event will take place on Tuesday, September 06, 12pm in the Student Union Ballroom Lobby. It is Free and open to the public.

The University of 缅北禁地 Springfield Visual Arts Gallery presents 鈥淥VER/LOOK,鈥� a mixed media exhibition of works by graduating seniors from the UIS Visual Arts Department. 鈥淥VER/LOOK鈥� will open on Monday, April 25 and run through Thursday, May 12. A reception will be held in the UIS Visual Arts Gallery from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 28. This event is free and open to the public.

The University of 缅北禁地 Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present 鈥淢idway,鈥� a survey of works that span the last ten years by Chicago-based artist Ann Toebbe. 鈥淢idway鈥漺ill open on Monday, March 21, and will run through Thursday, April 14. A reception will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 24.

The University of 缅北禁地 Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present 鈥淐harismatic Fauna,鈥� an exhibition by artist and curator Doug Stapleton. This exhibition will open on Tuesday, Jan. 18, and will run through Thursday, Feb. 10. A reception will be held on from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the gallery. Masks are required in the gallery and at the reception.

The University of 缅北禁地 Springfield is pleased to present 鈥淟eaving Loves Company鈥� from renowned Arizona-based artist Angela Ellsworth. 鈥淟eaving Loves Company鈥� will open on Thursday, March 1, and run through Thursday, April 12, 2018. A reception for the exhibit will take place on Thursday, March 1, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Visual Arts Gallery.

The University of 缅北禁地 Springfield (UIS) Visual Arts Gallery is proud to present 鈥淓ssence鈥�, an exhibition showcasing the creativity and skill sets of the senior Visual Arts majors at UIS. The exhibit will open on Monday, April 23, 2018 and run through Thursday, May 10, 2018. The reception will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. All gallery events are free and open to the public.

The University of 缅北禁地 Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present 鈥渄igital dusk shadow storage,鈥� an installation by St. Louis-based artist Amanda Bowles. The exhibition will open on Monday, August 27, and run through Thursday, September 20. A reception for the exhibit will take place on Thursday, September 6, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The immersive installation will feature crystalized tube towers, ghost images, sky blocks, and a large painting of fingers.

The聽University of 缅北禁地 Springfield聽Visual Arts Gallery聽is pleased to present 鈥淟et the fancy,鈥� a group exhibition co-curated by聽Jeff Robinson, gallery director, and聽Allison Lacher, exhibitions manager. The exhibition will open on Thursday, September 27, and will run through Thursday, October 18. A reception for the exhibit will take place on Thursday, September 27, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The University of 缅北禁地 Springfield Visual Arts Gallery will unveil a new art exhibit entitled 鈥淟ove You Bro鈥� by Chicago-based artist Stephanie Graham and host a Engaged Citizenship Common Experience (ECCE) Speaker Series discussion called 鈥淪pielberg, Diddy, Oprah and Me鈥� on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, as part of an exploration of race in art.

The art exhibit, 鈥淟ove You Bro,鈥� will open on Thursday, Oct. 25 and run through Thursday, Nov. 15.
