What was your overall UIS experience like?
It was a fun experience! I got to meet so many people and had a lot of great opportunities. I played on the soccer team but was also able to participate in Alternative Spring Break and a study abroad program in Italy.
Do you have any fond memories of your time at UIS you'd like to share?
I liked participating in Springfest with my friends and teammates! It was fun to get together each year with the entire campus and take part in the activities.
What was your overall UIS experience like? Did you participate in any clubs or activities while attending UIS?
Right off the bat I was participating in the UIS Orchestra Program, Psychology Club, Camerata Program, and the Honors Program. As the months went by I started to establish who I was as a musician, student, mentor, leader, and friend. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to work closely with my professors and help develop the Camerata music program from a simple ensemble group to a close-knit team of friends and collaborators.

How did your UIS education prepare you for your career?
I graduated with a degree in Business Administration and took Advertising as an elective. It was one of my favorite classes, so I knew I wanted to work in that field somehow.
It is always great to reconnect with our alumni. Recently, I had an opportunity to catch up with , one of our math majors who graduated in 2017.

Ashley Lisenby, a 2016 graduate of the UIS Public Affairs Reporting program, was named Wednesday the new news director at St. Louis Public Radio.

The Public Affairs Reporting program is looking for former students to assist with two events happening at and around UIS in the months to come.
1. On April 20 at 3 p.m., the UIS School of Communication and Media (the academic unit that includes PAR) is hosting an alumni panel discussion to highlight what alumni are doing with their degrees. This opportunity is open to PAR alums who are journalists OR have related careers, like PR or lobbying. The event is at UIS.
Each month, UIS has a guest column spot in The State Journal-Register. I was given the opportunity to write this month鈥檚 entry about the Public Affairs Reporting program's 50-year anniversary.
鈦side from getting to see my byline again in the newspaper where I spent 21 years of my life, I was happy that Mike Kienzler, a member of the first PAR class in 1972-1973, shared some memories from his days as a student and reporting intern at the Capitol.
