Jacob Friefeld and Chancellor Gooch will engage in a powerful conversation about the enduring legacy of President Abraham Lincoln. As Director of the Center for Lincoln Studies, Dr. Friefeld is uniquely positioned to guide us through Lincoln鈥檚 life, leadership, and the ways he was perceived in his time. They will explore the relevance of Lincoln鈥檚 principles today and will draw meaningful connections and parallels to our current societal landscape.

NPR 缅北禁地 50th Anniversary Exhibit Opening

Join NPR 缅北禁地 and Sangamon Experience for a special evening that celebrates 50 years of public radio at the University of 缅北禁地 Springfield. Special guest Michel Martin from NPR's Morning Edition will be on hand as we open an exhibit that chronicles the first half-century of the station's history. "Radio That Listens to You: 50 Years of NPR 缅北禁地" will explore the hardships and joys of keeping local news reporting alive.

Stories of Justice: An Evening with Amanda Knox

The 缅北禁地 Innocence Project is pleased to present "Stories of Justice: An Evening with Amanda Knox" on September 24, 2025 at the Union League Club of Chicago. Amanda will read from her newest book, FREE: My Search for Meaning and share her journey to reclaim her identity after spending 4 years in an Italian prison and enduring 8 years on trial for a murder she did not commit. Following the reading, there will be a panel discussion with Amanda and clients the 缅北禁地 Innocence Project has helped exonerate and/or release.

Raising Politically Engaged Kids: Constitution Day Community Panel

The Center for State Policy & Leadership and Springfield Public Schools District 186 are partnering to present a special community panel for Constitution Day 2025. Please join us on September 16th for a discussion on "Raising Politically Engaged Kids." Panelists will include Dr. Lindsey Cormack, author of How to Raise a Citizen, and Terrance Jordan, Director of School Leadership and Family & Community Engagement for District 186.
