Canvas

Canvas is a modern learning management system that supports student-focused teaching and learning at UIS. The robust features of Canvas help to enhance teaching and learning beyond the physical classroom.

Attendance Taking

For faculty interested in taking attendance in on-campus courses, ITS has developed a web-based application. Faculty can log into theÌýÌýand students can swipe their iCards in a card reader to log attendance for each class session. Please submit anÌýInstructional Technology Request Formto request that a card reader be installed in your classroom (see below for a list of classrooms that already have card readers).

Campus Cluster Program

ITS is excited to be a part of the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Campus Cluster project. Investing in the Campus Cluster allows UIS faculty to have access to high-performance computers to meet the research need for high-scale computing.

UIS currently has 22TB (soft limit) and 24TB (hard limit) of space to utilize.

The Campus Cluster maintains a variety of core software and libraries to support computing activities, including R, Java, Mathematica, and MATLAB.

NetID & Password

Your Network ID (NetID) is a network login assigned to you that is unique across all University of Ãå±±½ûµØ campuses. It serves as your login to many University computing and networking services.

Your NetID is the part of your e-mail address before the @ symbol. For example, if your email address were jdoe123@uis.edu, your NetID would be jdoe123. Your NetID has a password associated with it, this password is commonly called your NetID password. It may also be referred to as your Active Directory password.

Mission Statement

Information Technology Services provides a wide range of information technology solutions and services to the University community that are innovative, accessible, timely, reliable, accurate, efficient, and responsive to customer needs. We collaborate to proactively identify opportunities, mitigate risks, plan future initiatives, and solve problems by leveraging all of our information technology resources and knowledge.

IT Governance

Information Technology Services works with the university community as a whole and, specifically, with technology-focused units across the campus to identify strategies, emerging technologies, standards, infrastructure, and services in support of the UIS mission, vision, and strategic plan.

Information Security Policy

  1. In order to manage information security risks, University Community Members must ensure that their actions with respect to Data and IT Resources and their electronic devices and other resources that store, transmit, or process Data meet:
    1. the I, and
    2. all applicable laws, University policies, and University contractual obligations.
  2. Individuals must report known non-compliance with this policy and its Information Security Standards to the University
