UIS WiFi Upgrade

IT infrastructure acts as the foundation for all our technology operations. Having a robust infrastructure allows us to enable core functions, boost productivity and efficiency, ensure data security and compliance, support innovation and growth, and provide a competitive edge.

With campus and system-level financial support, ITS is implementing a campus-wide infrastructure refresh as part of our efforts to improve Wi-Fi performance. This is a multi-phase project; the timeline for each building is listed below with an expected projected completion date of August 2025.

AI Tools at UIS

Generative AI at UIS

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming how we approach teaching, learning, research, and administrative tasks at the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield. Our mission is to keep the UIS community informed about the latest AI tools, training, and resources while ensuring that the technology is used safely and ethically.

Dear Faculty,

We are receiving calls at the help desk from students who are having technical issues with their midterms because of the Respondus outage:

While the  indicate that the situation is improving, I wanted to make sure that you are all aware of the outage in case it is impacting exams your students are taking today, and you want to extend deadlines as needed.

Our 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) partner, Duo, is reporting issues with SMS (text messaging) delivery of passcodes. Duo has identified the cause of the issue and is working to restore SMS service.

Duo Push notifications are not affected, and individuals are encouraged to utilize this option as it is the most secure and convenient while we wait for service to be restored.

In an effort to improve building security, ITS Client Services (located in the lower level of Brookens Library) will not be available for in-person visits until 9am Monday through Friday. We will still be available for phone/chat/email support and by appointment for in-person visits from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Upcoming Firewall Maintenance

During the morning of Tuesday, January 21, ITS will be performing a critical security update on our firewalls. We do not anticipate any interruption in service or downtime.

If you experience any technical issues, please reach out to ITS Client Services at techsupport@uis.edu.

Welcome to both new and returning members of the UIS community. ITS stands ready to assist you with all your technology issues and questions.

ITS Client Services is your first point of contact for all technology issues regardless of device, platform, or operating system.
