The annual fire drills for this year will be conducted on Thursday November 6th and Friday November 7 for the UIS campus. Please pay special attention to your building assembly points as some have been revised for the ease of assembly by location.
The roofing contractor will have a crane on site Tuesday morning, October 21, to place materials on the roof. The crane will be positioned on the west side of Founders, just off Eliza Farnham Drive. The bus stop on that corner will remain open and accessible. The red rectangle on the included image indicates the approximate location for the crane.
Please use caution if you need to travel near the residence hall. Construction zones and equipment placement areas will be marked to assist with navigation and ensure safety.
The University of 缅北禁地 Springfield has named Robert Mitchell as assistant vice chancellor of Facilities and Services, effective Oct. 16. He will serve in a designate capacity pending formal approval by the University of 缅北禁地 Board of Trustees.
The 2nd Act Campaign Has Reached $620,000
As a reminder, Windows 10 will reach end of life on October 14 2025, and all university-owned Windows computers will need to be running Windows 11 before then. Computers running Windows 10 after October 14th will not be allowed on the network.
If you are running Windows 10 on your university-owned computer, please reach out to ITS Client Services to schedule an upgrade. (If you have selected a new computer in our fall round of the Desktop Refresh Program, you do not need to schedule an upgrade for your current computer.)

The women's restroom on the 4th floor in Tower 2 of PAC has been taken out of service for the foreseeable future.
Alternative restrooms in PAC Tower 2 include the restrooms on floors 2, 3, and 5 and an all-gender restroom on the 4th floor. Please note that all restrooms in Towers 1 and 3 remain closed as part of the ongoing construction efforts.

The Cox Children鈥檚 Center and the Volunteer and Civic Engagement Center are once again hosting Trunk or Treat for Canned Goods. Please sign up to participate in this year鈥檚 event which is being held on Friday, October 31, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Setup can start earlier. This year's event will be held in Parking Lot B (Adjacent to WUIS and SLB).
All donations directly benefit the UIS Cares Food Pantry located right here on our campus. Register your department, get creative, visit with the kids from the Cox Children鈥檚 Center in their costumes, and help support our UIS students.
Registration ends Monday, October 6.
Multi-Factor SMS No Longer Available After October 30
If you use SMS passcodes when signing in to university resources with Duo, you will need to select a different option before October 30.
SMS passcodes are the least secure option when using Multi-Factor Authentication and the university is removing the SMS option beginning October 30 to help better protect university resources from cyber criminals. MFA also helps protect personal information, such as access to direct deposit.
