Jacob Friefeld, director of the Center for Lincoln Studies at the University of 缅北禁地 Springfield, has received the Caroline Bancroft History Prize from the Denver Public Library for 鈥淭he First Migrants,鈥 a book he co-authored with Richard Edwards. Published by Bison Books, the book examines the migration of Black homesteaders to the Great Plains from 1877 to 1920.

SMTD bus service will be reduced to service only at the bus shelter next to Founders Residence Hall at Eliza Farnham and Vachel Lindsay Drive from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on聽Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Dear Colleagues,

The Springfield area is forecasted to receive its first significant snowfall Sunday through Monday. The university does not anticipate any changes to campus operations; however, this is the time of year to reacclimate ourselves with UIS鈥 inclement weather procedures.

As a matter of policy, UIS does not close due to inclement weather except under the most extraordinary conditions. However, periods of inclement weather often result in conditions that make travel difficult and at times hazardous.

In looking forward to a new semester classroom locations can now be viewed in the dynamic course schedule. A few courses may still show TBA but this should be resolved with the next 24 hour update.
