Before resuming its GLVC slate at Upper Iowa this weekend, the UIS baseball team will welcome the Maryville Saints to the UIS Baseball Field for a midweek non-conference matchup. Last Tuesday's meeting between the teams was a 13-6 win for UIS, where the Prairie Stars' bats came alive in the late innings while strong pitching secured the victory. Another competitive matchup is expected this time around.

UIS senior utility player Taylor Zawacki was named the GLVC Softball Player of the Week after a dominant offensive performance in four conference games last weekend.
GLVC play resumes for baseball and softball, while men's and women's golf, as well as track and field, are in the heart of their regular seasons. The tennis teams are on a break before beginning their GLVC schedule in mid-April, and women's soccer continues spring scrimmages.

UIS men's golf resumes its spring season at the Flyers Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill.
The Prairie Stars will compete in a 12-team field of Midwest region opponents, including Drury, Maryville, McKendree, Lewis, Quincy, and William Jewell from the GLVC.
The UIS women's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Flyers Spring Invitational, hosted by Lewis at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill. The Prairie Stars were recently ranked 18th in the Midwest region, putting them inside the 18-team cut for a potential regional appearance this spring.
UIS will compete in a 12-team field featuring East region opponents, along with GLVC foes Drury, Maryville, McKendree, Lewis, Quincy, and William Jewell.
Ryan Jones led the way for the Prairie Stars men's track and field team at the Big Blue Alumni Invite on Saturday. UIS had a strong showing, highlighted by Jones' second-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.14.
Josslyn Gaona led the Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield women's track and field team with a first-place finish in the 800-meter race at the Big Blue Alumni Invite, hosted by Millikin University. The Prairie Stars recorded multiple top-10 finishes across various events, including strong performances in the 1500 meters and high jump.
The UIS Baseball team picked up two more wins against Lincoln on Saturday afternoon, winning 9-1 in the first game and 10-0 in the second game via run-rule. The Prairie Stars are now 16-10 overall and 10-5 in conference play.
The UIS Prairie Stars are ranked 18th in the latest NCAA East Region women's golf rankings, putting them in position to qualify for the postseason as the spring schedule progresses.
Eighteen teams from the East Region—one of four NCAA regions for Division II women's golf—will advance to the regional tournament, hosted by Grand Valley State at Michigan Meadows Golf Club from May 5-7.
