TheÌýÃå±±½ûµØ Springfield women's soccer team picked up its first win of the 2025Ìýseason on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Ohio Dominican 2-0 at Kiwanis Stadium.
Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield senior cross country runner Madelyn Miller-Ross has been selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Runner of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Miller-Ross claimed the individual title at the 10th Annual UIS Prairie Stars Invitational on Sept. 5, finishing first in a field of 88 runners. She posted a personal-best time of 18:01.07, setting a new UIS Cross Country Course women's 5K record and leading the Prairie Stars to the team championship with 19 points.
The UIS men's soccer team returns to Kiwanis Stadium on Wednesday evening for a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Purdue Northwest. Fans are encouraged to wear blue as the Prairie Stars aim for their first win of the season.

UIS opened its season on the road with a 2-0 loss to Alabama Huntsville. Goalkeeper Landon Amick made four saves but conceded one goal in each half, while Robin Lemke Bergseth recorded two shots on target.
The Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield women's golf team wrapped up play at the UIndy Fall Invitational on Tuesday, placing ninth out of 12 teams with a three-round total of 928 (307-310-311).
The UIS women's golf team played two rounds on Monday at the UIndy Fall Invitational, hosted at Champions Pointe Golf Club. The Prairie Stars sit in ninth place with one round left to play.
UIS carded a team score of 307 in the morning round and followed with a 310 in the afternoon, finishing the day at 617 (+41). Missouri-St. Louis leads the 12-team field with a score of 574 (-2).
The week ahead is packed with Prairie Stars action as women's golf tees off its fall season at the UIndy Fall Invitational. Both cross country and men's golf are off the competition schedule, while volleyball hits the road for the Hall of Fame City Challenge in Ohio. At home, men's and women's soccer each host a pair of matches at Kiwanis Stadium, including their conference openers and Senior Day celebrations.

All Day – Women's Golf at UIndy Fall Invitational
The UIS women's golf team will open its fall 2025Ìýseason on Monday and Tuesday at the UIndy Fall Invitational, hosted by GLVC opponent Indianapolis at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville, Ind.
The athletes will compete in three rounds of stroke play over two days, facing a strong field of 11 opponents, including eight from the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The UIS men's soccer team earned a 2-2 draw against No. 7-ranked Saginaw Valley State on Sunday afternoon at Kiwanis Stadium.
The Prairie Stars came out strong, building a 2-0 lead in the first half. Corne Boshoff converted a penalty kick in the 12th minute, and Adam Knaze followed with a goal in the 23rd minute to give UIS an early cushion against the nationally ranked opponent.
The Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to West Alabama on Sunday afternoon, falling to 0-1-1 after the opening week of the season.Ìý
The Tigers struck early, breaking through in the 13th minute on a goal from Selis Demirci. Tiana Trahan doubled the lead just after halftime, and Emily Callahan added an insurance goal in the 68th minute.
