The UIS men's soccer team came up short on the road Sunday, dropping a 2-1 match at Southwest Baptist. The loss moves the Prairie Stars to 2-5-1 overall and 1-4-0 in GLVC play.
The Bearcats struck first in the 41st minute when Hugo Lopes scored off an assist from Piotr Rapczynski. UIS responded after halftime, with Robin Lemke Bergseth netting the equalizer in the 60th minute for his third goal of the season. Andrew Synoradzki had the assist.

The Bearcats found the back of the net in the 23rd minute when Tamerra Gantt scored off an assist from Annabelle Schuler. That proved to be the difference as the Prairie Stars were unable to convert despite holding a 12-3 edge in total shots and a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.Â
The Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield men's tennis team saw a busy day of singles and doubles action at the ITA Regional on Saturday. Several Prairie Stars advanced in their respective flights, while others faced tough early-round challenges.
Flight A Singles:
Pablo Herrera fell in a tight round-of-64 match against Northwood's Sergio Lopez Guillen, 3-6, 6-4, [4-10]. Herrera rebounded in the consolation round of 32, defeating Walsh's Nicolas Strohle 6-0, earning a bye into the round of 16. He will face an athlete from Maryville on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield volleyball dropped its second straight conference match on Saturday, falling 3-0 to Indianapolis at TRAC. The Greyhounds won by set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-19.Â

The UIS men's cross country team placed 15th of 24 teams at the Lucian Rosa Invite on Saturday morning, finishing with 375 total points. The Prairie Stars edged out Midwest Region opponent Cedarville, which took 16th with 408 points.
The Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield women's cross country team turned in a strong showing at the Lucian Rosa Invite on Saturday morning, placing 11th out of 23 teams at Wisconsin-Parkside. The Prairie Stars finished ahead of several Midwest Region opponents, most notably Southwest Baptist, which entered the meet ranked No. 10 in the region. UIS totaled 323 points to SBU's 388, as the Bearcats placed 15th.
The UIS men's soccer team struck early but couldn't hold off Rockhurst on Friday night, falling 2-1 on the road and ultimately dropping to 2-3-1 overall, 1-2 GLVC.Â
UIS grabbed the lead in the seventh minute when Mahomet Doucoure and Spencer Martin set up Robin Lemke Bergseth for a highlight finish. Martin delivered a short and precise pass that Bergseth ran onto and fired across the goal into the far corner, past a leaping Rockhurst keeper.
The Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield volleyball team opened its GLVC schedule with a strong start but ultimately fell 3-1 to Lewis on Friday night at TRAC. The Prairie Stars dropped to 6-5 overall and 0-1 in the league.

After nearly 20 scoreless minutes, the Hawks broke through with a goal tucked just inside the right post following a corner kick.
Rockhurst doubled its lead before halftime, taking the ball the length of the field and finishing a long build-up with a strike past starting goalkeeper Gigi Yurevich.
The Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield men's tennis team opens its fall season this weekend in Allendale, Mich. at the ITA Midwest Small College Regional, hosted by Grand Valley State. The Prairie Stars will face key in-region opponents while giving newcomers a chance to make their mark.
