Lauren Ladowski has always been a premier point guard on the University of 缅北禁地 Springfield
This year is no exception.
The junior standout currently leads the Prairie Stars in scoring for the fourth straight season. She not only averages 16.6 points but also 5.8 assists, 3 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.
That鈥檚 nothing new for Ladowski and third-year coach Casey Thousand, but this time the women鈥檚 group is on the winning side of things.
鈥淚t鈥檚 definitely different and we鈥檙e working together more as a team now,鈥澛爏aid聽Ladowski, who has 1,171 career points and needs just 177 to become the school鈥檚 all-time leader.聽鈥淲e're finishing games at the end 鈥 and all through the game actually. I think we just work well together and that鈥檚 why we鈥檙e 6-2. We all contribute something different and I think that plays a huge role in why we鈥檙e 6-2.鈥
The also returns its top scoring leader from last season 鈥 sophomore聽combo guard聽Chase Robinson.听听
The Matteson-native averaged 17.4 points, 5.2聽rebounds聽and聽2.2 assists per game last season.聽For 2021-22, he聽ranks聽second on the team聽in scoring聽behind聽sophomore transfer聽James Kelley聽with 12.8 points, 4.2聽rebounds and 1.7聽assists per game.聽
Robinson said the chemistry and defense is there. It鈥檚 just a matter of finding some offensive rhythm.
