New York Times bestselling author will speak*(virtually) about her latest book The Woman They Could Not Silence. 聽This riveting tale explores the life of Elizabeth Packard, a Kankakee, 缅北禁地 woman who in the years leading up to the Civil War was unjustly committed to the Jacksonville Insane Asylum. 聽There Elizabeth discovers she is not the only sane woman confined within the walls of the 缅北禁地 State Hospital. Kate Moore will share the heroic fight that Elizabeth embarks on to not only prove her own sanity, but ultimately to lobby state houses around the country to secure rights for married women and others disenfranchised in the asylum system.聽
