Jake Seidel
Growing up in a small town, Jake Seidel spent a lot of time working outdoors. He brought his passion for the outdoors to the University of 缅北禁地 Springfield where he鈥檚 now learning how to protect the environment as a biology major. At UIS, Seidel is president of the Biology Club, a member of the UIS Cross Country and Track and Field teams, the Capital Scholars Honors Program, Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society and Students Allied for a Greener Earth (SAGE).
Bethany Bilyeu named the 2021 UIS Employee of the Year
Executive Director of Student Support Services Bethany Bilyeu has been named the 2021 Employee of the Year at the University of 缅北禁地 Springfield. She was honored during a virtual reception on Feb. 1, 2022.
Before announcing the winner, UIS Interim Chancellor Karen Whitney thanked the eleven Employees of the Month who were nominated for the award.

Maria Espinosa
When international student Maria Espinosa came to the University of 缅北禁地 Springfield from Colombia to play on the UIS women鈥檚 golf team, she knew she would grow as an athlete. However, she didn鈥檛 know she鈥檇 become a leader on campus.
2011 Defenders of the Innocent Event
The Downstate 缅北禁地 Innocence Project at the University of 缅北禁地 Springfield honored four individuals with Defender of the Innocent Awards on May 16, 2011. The awards were handed out as part of a 10th anniversary celebration and fundraiser at the Inn at 835 in Springfield.
