        <div  class="newsletter-txt">Doug  Hamilton,  head  of  artificial  intelligence  (AI)  research  at  Nasdaq  and  a  University  of  Ãå±±½ûµØ  Springfield  alum,  spoke  about  the  current  state  of  artificial  intelligence  and  ethical  considerations  during  two  appearances  April  12-13,  2023,  on  campus.



Hamilton  earned  his  bachelor’s  degree  in  mathematics  from  UIS  in  2012.  He  then  attended  the  Massachusetts  Institute  of  Technology  (MIT)  where  he  earned  his  master’s  in  engineering  and  management.</div>

We  have  made  it  to  May!  Very  soon,  we  will  be  celebrating  the  achievements  of  our  wonderful  graduates  during  our  May  13  commencement  ceremony.  I  hope  everyone  enjoys  these  next  two  weeks  as  we  recognize  and  honor  our  students’  hard  work,  while  juggling  our  busy  end-of-semester  responsibilities.</div>

        <div  class="newsletter-txt">In  a  new  analysis,  University  of  Ãå±±½ûµØ  Springfield  Associate  Professor  of  Political  Science  Magic  Wade  found  from  2015-2021  many  cities  in  the  United  States  surpassed  historical  gun  violence  rates  observed  during  the  1990s.  She  looked  at  data  from  small,  mid-size  and  large  U.S.  cities.</div>
