We are very pleased to announce that on-campus educational activities will resume this fall at the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ System’s three universities, with a hybrid mixture of in-person and online classes. Of course, our collective decision assumes that Ãå±±½ûµØ stays on track to meet Phase 4 requirements established by Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Restore Ãå±±½ûµØ plan that allow reopening of classrooms.
UIS names Van Vieregge the interim vice chancellor for student affairs

°Õ³ó±ðÌýUniversity of Ãå±±½ûµØ SpringfieldÌý(UIS) has officially announced the appointment ofÌýVan Vieregge, Ed.D., as the interim vice chancellor for student affairs.
Karen Whitney’s term as interim chancellor to be extended at UIS
University of Ãå±±½ûµØ System President Tim Killeen announced today that he is recommending thatÌýUniversity of Ãå±±½ûµØ SpringfieldÌýInterim ChancellorÌýKaren M. Whitney’s appointment be extended by one year.Ìý
Whitney, a nationally recognized higher education leader, has served as interim chancellor since June 2020 and will continue in that capacity through June 2022, Killeen said, pending approval of the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Board of Trustees at its January meeting.Ìý

The University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield will hold two commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the Bank of Springfield (BOS) Center, Ninth and Adams Streets in downtown Springfield. Of the 1,274 UIS students eligible to graduate, 744 will participate in the ceremonies.
Freshmen enrollment grows by nearly 14 percent at the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield
Freshmen enrollment at the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield grew by nearly 14 percent according to Fall Semester 2018 census numbers released today. The total number of first-year students stands at 316, compared to 278 last fall semester.
The University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield has received institutional reaccreditation from the , an independent corporation that serves as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. UIS has been accredited by the commission since 1975.
The 10 year reaccreditation was approved by the Institutional Actions Council of the Higher Learning Commission at its meeting on July 31, 2018.
Hundreds of students graduate during the 47th annual UIS commencement ceremonies in downtown Springfield
The University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield held two commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Bank of Springfield Center in downtown Springfield. Out of the 1,520 UIS students who were eligible to graduate, 978 participated in the ceremonies.
UIS Chancellor Susan J. Koch presided over the ceremonies, welcoming thousands of guests. She offered the graduates some advice and reflected on the importance of earning a college degree from a University of Ãå±±½ûµØ campus.
University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield cuts ribbon on new $21.75 million Student Union Building
The University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield officially opened the new $21.75 million Student Union Building during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday, January 14, 2018. The first-ever student union will serve as a social hub for student life and foster a greater sense of community on the growing campus.
UIS Chancellor Susan Koch was joined by U of I President Timothy Killeen, Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder and student leaders in cutting the ribbon.
Downtown Springfield business incubator joins UIS becomes first hub of Ãå±±½ûµØ Innovation Network
