These representatives work collaboratively to review reports of concern from community members, evaluate the level of risk and identify the appropriate action to support students and others in the affected community. Such actions might include outreach from a CBIT member or collaboration with other campus partners to provide a response to the referral. The following week, an update is provided as appropriate and possible additional recommendations to support the student in the future.&nbsp;</p> <p>Please note CBIT should not be confused with crisis management in which there is an immediate risk of harm to self or others. UIS employs certified police officers, who should be contacted in the event of an emergency or when an immediate response is needed (217-206-7777).</p> <p><a href="https://cm.maxient.com/reportingform.php?Univof缅北禁地Springfield&amp;layout_id=10" data-type="URL" data-id="https://cm.maxient.com/reportingform.php?Univof缅北禁地Springfield&amp;layout_id=10">Student of Concern Reporting Form</a>&nbsp;鈥 This is to be used for concerning, threatening, or worrisome behaviors by members of our community.</p> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-dept-pos field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"></div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-events field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-news field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__items"> <div class="field__item"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-profiles field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"></div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-faculty field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-employees field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-policies field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-news-2 field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"></div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-slate-embed field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"></div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-research field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> Fri, 16 Aug 2024 18:36:31 +0000 enorr3 33436165 at Student Accountability & Support /dean-of-students/student-accountability-support <span class="field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden">Student Accountability &amp; Undoubtedly you have a number of questions. Let us try to address a few 鈥</p> <h3>Can I bring my child to class?</h3> <p>There is no university policy regarding students bringing children to class. Since each instructor makes his/her own decisions about how to manage the classroom, asking the question at the start of the course is the best way to learn your professor鈥檚 preference.</p> <h3>What do I need to do if I need to miss class due to an emergency situation?</h3> <p>Individual instructors hold the authority when it comes to excusing absences and permitting make-up work. Each course鈥檚 syllabus should give you an idea as to how absences are handled; informing yourself at the start of the semester is important so that you will know what steps you need to take should an emergency arise. We recommend that you contact your professor as soon as you are aware of a situation that will cause you to miss class.</p> <h3>What if I need to take some time off from my academic program?</h3> <h4>Graduate Students</h4> <p>For information on the withdrawing for the semester as well as taking a&nbsp;leave of absence&nbsp;contact the&nbsp;Graduate College.</p> <h4>Undergraduate Students</h4> <p>There is no leave policy for undergrads. But students may withdraw from the semester. Each college has polices about the number of semesters students can be away before they will need to re-apply to the college and or university. Contact your College office for more details.</p> <div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img src="/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/inline-images/children.jpg?itok=H_4IsQKm" alt="a line up of toddlers" class="wp-image-19230" width="731" height="239" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="c55ae1fe-cd07-4bc5-bcdd-1d2d1a9d8fe9" data-image-style="original"></figure></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-dept-pos field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"></div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-events field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-news field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__items"> <div class="field__item"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-profiles field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"></div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-faculty field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-employees field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> Wed, 19 Jan 2022 00:26:25 +0000 cogbo2 33411942 at Get Connected /dean-of-students/student-parents-uis-get-connected <span class="field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden">Get Connected</span> <span class="field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden"><span>cogbo2</span></span> <span class="field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden"><time datetime="2022-01-18T18:16:33-06:00" title="Tuesday, January 18, 2022 - 18:16" class="datetime">Tue, 01/18/2022 - 18:16</time> </span> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item"> <p>Connecting with the community and with other parents can often be a big help in managing the 鈥減arent鈥 side of your life as a student-parent. To substantially improve the rates of postsecondary credential attainment, which is crucial to increasing access to good jobs, colleges must recognize the need for supports and tailor them to college students with children. Undoubtedly you have a number of questions. Let us try to address a few 鈥</p> <p class="has-medium-font-size">Can I bring my child to class?</p> <p>There is no university policy regarding students bringing children to class. Since each instructor makes his/her own decisions about how to manage the classroom, asking the question at the start of the course is the best way to learn your professor鈥檚 preference.</p> <p class="has-medium-font-size">What do I need to do if I need to miss class due to an emergency situation?</p> <p>Individual instructors hold the authority when it comes to excusing absences and permitting make-up work. Each course鈥檚 syllabus should give you an idea as to how absences are handled; informing yourself at the start of the semester is important so that you will know what steps you need to take should an emergency arise. We recommend that you contact your professor as soon as you are aware of a situation that will cause you to miss class.</p> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-dept-pos field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"></div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-events field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-news field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__items"> <div class="field__item"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-profiles field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"></div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-faculty field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-department-employees field--type-viewsreference field--label-hidden field__item"><div class="views-element-container"></div> </div> Wed, 19 Jan 2022 00:10:14 +0000 cogbo2 33411940 at
