University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield Graduate Public Service Program (GPSI) intern Marcel Tworek was the leading force behind the National Park Service adding the Old State Capitol, located in downtown Springfield, to its National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom list.
Motor Vehicle Data Linkage Project
The Ãå±±½ûµØ Motor Vehicle Data Linkage (MVDL) Project
Funded by a grant from the Ãå±±½ûµØ Department of Public Health in collaboration with the Ãå±±½ûµØ Department of Transportation, the overall goal of this project is to link state health and transportation data to support local, regional, and statewide highway safety decision-making to affect decreases in deaths, non-fatal injuries, and health care costs resulting from motor vehicle crashes, which will help make Ãå±±½ûµØ roads safer.

What does your position entail, what do you like most about your job or what motivates you to wake up and go to work?
“The pandemic impacted all of the Center’s divisions in a variety of ways. For the Child Protection Training Academy it meant an immediate transition to a different kind of simulation training, one that had not yet been contemplated or piloted. Amy quickly envisioned a hybrid simulation training model that met the needs of the DCFS workforce, using a combination of technology and in-person interactions transmitted over Zoom. The Ãå±±½ûµØ Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) in partnership with the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield (UIS), announced today its Safe2Help Ãå±±½ûµØ has been awarded a Silver Telly in the category of Social Video in the 43rd annual Telly Awards.
Myra is Assistant Director for the Office of Graduate Intern Programs. Myra meets with prospective graduate students and discusses the programs UIS has to offer and help them find new career paths they may not have been aware of.
Chrissy is the heart and soul of IIP. The more I know her, the more I am amazed at her genuine care and concern for everyone, her love for our clients, her respect of the students and her positive influence on those around her. She is a credit to UIS!

I love walking into the NPR studio and seeing the awesome people I work with. I also love when I can sit down with a community member and have a heart-felt conversation about what inspires them.
