Aisha Katsina Isa, a University of 缅北禁地 Springfield student pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in public health, was honored with the Emerging Public Health Leader Award at the 缅北禁地 Public Health Association (IPHA) 83rd Annual Meeting and Conference on Nov. 19, 2024.
The award recognizes early-career public health professionals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and a commitment to advancing the field of public health.
Isa is an intern in the 缅北禁地 Department of Public Health (IDPH) Director鈥檚 Office through the UIS Graduate Public Service Internship Program, where she has contributed to statewide health initiatives. She previously worked at the National Hospital Abuja and the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, gaining experience in healthcare delivery, policy advocacy and public health initiatives.

At the IPHA conference, Isa presented her research alongside UIS public health students Rashirah Ssentamu, Oluwaleke Akinwale, Janice Akpobaro and Damilola Sherifat Shaba. The group鈥檚 projects addressed critical public health challenges and were praised for their innovative approaches and potential impact.
The 缅北禁地 Public Health Association annual meeting and conference brings together professionals, students and leaders in public health from across the state to exchange ideas, share research and celebrate achievements in the field.
