UIS Good as Gold Ceremony honors more than 40 local volunteers, businesses and organizations

The University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield, Junior League of Springfield and the United Way of Central Ãå±±½ûµØ honored more than 40 Sangamon County volunteers and businesses during the 14th annual Good as Gold Ceremony on April 25, 2022 in the UIS Student Union.The Good as Gold Ceremony was started in 2008 to honor people, businesses and organizations who freely give their time and talents to make Sangamon County a better place to live.

4.25.22 Dear Students and Colleagues: Today, the UIS administration and faculty union bargaining teams had our 11th bargaining session of the calendar yearâ€”our eighth session with the independent federal mediator. The university has responded on all outstanding items and is awaiting responses from the union, including a response on the compensation component of the proposal sent April 21.

UISâ€™ Sangamon Experience to host â€œSangamo Country: 200 Years of Sangamon Countyâ€ film premiere

WHAT: Sangamon Experience at the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield will premiere the original documentary, â€œSangamo Country: 200 Years of Sangamon County.â€ The film features local researchers and citizens discussing the history of the county and sharing stories that have often been long forgotten. The documentary is a production of Sangamon Experience and the Sangamon County Bicentennial Commission, cooperating with the Sangamon County Historical Society. WHEN: Noon Thursday, May 5, 2022

UIS holds annual Springfest

One of the longest traditions is back at the University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield. Springfest is planned by multiple student organizations and features a variety of activities for students across campus. "Fun that's what it's geared towards," said Springfest chairwoman Paige Williams. "Fun and I think the service project is fun. A lot of other students here think that the service project is fun, so the entire week is geared towards fun but we do set aside one day in the week to give back."
