Dear  Faculty  and  Staff  —



I  am  pleased  to  share  that  we  are  close  to  completing  the  interview  process  with  potential  interim  provost  candidates  to  fill  an  approximate  six-month  term  while  we  conduct  a  national  search  for  our  next  permanent  provost.  I  wanted  to  provide  the  opportunity  for  faculty  and  staff  to  share  their  thoughts  regarding  the  areas  in  which  the  interim  provost  should  focus  during  their  brief  time  with  us.</div>

On  December  13,  2022,  UIS  will  be  implementing  2-Factor  Authentication  (2FA)  to  better  protect  both  you  and  the  university  from  unauthorized  access  to  your  personal  data  stored  in  the  university's  enterprise  systems.  UIS  will  be  requiring  a  second  layer  of  security  to  access  your  University  account  making  it  difficult  for  an  unauthorized  person  to  access  your  information.  2FA  provides  better  account  protection  than  merely  using  a  password.</div>

        <div  class="newsletter-txt">On  December  6  at  approximately  10  a.m.,  the  UIS  Police  Department  will  be  conducting  a  test  of  the  Rave  text  message  system  in  conjunction  with  the  monthly  tornado  siren  test. We  will  follow  up  the  test  with  a  brief  survey  (no  longer  than  12  questions)  to  help  evaluate  the  effectiveness  of  the  tornado  sirens  and  the  Rave  text  message  system. We  would  appreciate  your  participation  to  help  identify  areas  we  need  to  improve.

As  we  begin  finals  week  and  the  end  of  2022  quickly  approaches,  I’m  thankful  for  all  of  the  students,  faculty  and  staff  who  have  made  this  such  a  joyous  year.
