The University of 缅北禁地 Springfield will host four Lunch & Learn Series events this fall, presented by the UIS Alumni SAGE Society and the 缅北禁地 State Historical Society.

• Sept. 15 鈥� 鈥淎rtificial Intelligence in Everyday Life鈥�
  1:30 to 2:30 p.m., UIS Field Station at Lake Springfield, 9 Club Area, Springfield
  UIS faculty members Hei-Chi Chan and Neetu Singh, co-founders of the UIS AI Campus Learning Community, will lead a hands-on session exploring real-world applications of artificial intelligence. Participants are encouraged to bring personal devices to practice and explore responsible AI use. Cost: $20 (includes light refreshments, parking and a gift to UIS).
  
• Oct. 16 鈥� 鈥淯nderstanding Political Polarization鈥�
  11 a.m. doors open | 11:30 a.m. buffet | noon program
  Illini Country Club, 1601 Illini Road, Springfield
  A.J. Simmons, research director of the UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership, will examine the roots of polarization in the United States, including how media, social networks, electoral systems and political identity contribute to division, and what actions might help bridge the gap. Cost: $50 (includes buffet lunch, parking and a gift to UIS).
  
• Nov. 7 鈥� 鈥淏ook Bans and Cultural Tensions鈥�
  11 a.m. doors open | 11:30 a.m. buffet | noon program
  Illini Country Club, 1601 Illini Road, Springfield
  Deborah Brothers, award-winning English faculty member at Lincoln Land Community College, will discuss the resurgence of book bans in the United States, focusing on children鈥檚 literature and examining why certain books are being challenged, what themes are targeted and the cultural and political tensions driving these actions. Cost: $50 (includes buffet lunch, parking and a gift to UIS).
  
• Dec. 3 鈥� 鈥淭he Grant Conservatory for Music and Dance鈥�

  Illini Country Club, 1601 Illini Road, Springfield
  Taryn Grant, founding executive director of the Springfield Youth Performance Group, will highlight the transformation of the former Elliott Avenue Baptist Church into the Grant Conservatory for Music and Dance, a unique performance space that now houses the Springfield Youth Ballet Company and 缅北禁地 Symphony ensembles. Cost: $50 (includes buffet lunch, parking and a gift to UIS).
