Aden Smith of Quincy, 缅北禁地, has been admitted to the University of 缅北禁地 Springfield for the fall semester of 2025 and awarded a $16,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years. At UIS, he will major in computer science.
The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed if the student maintains college GPA requirements.
In high school, he played varsity tennis for four years. 聽
鈥淚 chose UIS because the computer science program is highly recommended,鈥� Smith said. 鈥淚 like the small campus size and transportation is easy.鈥�
After graduation, Smith hopes to pursue a career in cybersecurity or computer programming.
All undergraduate first-year students are automatically eligible for Star Scholar First Year Scholarships. To receive $16,000 over four years, the student must have an unweighted GPA of 3.25-3.49.
