UIS names next chancellor
The University of Ãå±±½ûµØ Springfield has selected the next chancellor for the school and vice president for the U of I system.
Dr. Janet Gooch has served as executive vice president and provost at Truman State University since 2017 and has been an administrator and member of the faculty at the university in Kirksville, Mo., since 1995.
She will take over for interim chancellor Karen Whitney in July, pending Board of Trustees approval.
A Message from the Chancellor: Thank you for two years of being United in Safety

Dear UIS Students and Colleagues:
Two years ago, as the COVID-19 pandemic began to take hold of our world, we found ourselves experiencing a newfound sense of uncertainty, faced with decisions we had never before imagined making. Over a rapidly changing and very abbreviated period of time in March 2020, UIS leaders recognized the need to complete the semester remotely and asked anyone who could stay home to do so. By late March, a very small number of individuals continued to live or work on campus.

Dear UIS Colleagues –
Happy second official day of spring! I hope you had an enjoyable spring break; whether you spent some time away from central Ãå±±½ûµØ or just had the opportunity to get outside in the spring-like weather, I hope you are refreshed and energized. Good luck to the students and faculty involved in accelerated courses, which begin today.

Seeking Commencement Volunteers
Greetings Past Commencement Volunteers,
Commencement time is quickly approaching and, once again, I am looking for volunteers to help us make this year’s Commencement memorable for our students. We are heading back down to the BOS Center for two ceremonies this year at 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. so we are going to need a bit of additional help, more so then we have needed in the last two years. We have an excited class of graduates, looking forward to celebrating with their family and friends.
