Sangamon Experience at the University of Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ Springfield will present five livestreamed historical discussions at 6 p.m. every Wednesday in March as part of their “Women’s History Month: Community Trailblazers” series.

The series will highlight women who have impacted their community here in central Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ throughout the month. Programs will cover women who helped run the family farm, fought for pensions to care for their families, led 4-H to strive to improve their lives and the lives of others and ran for a political office. The programs will be led by Anne Moseley, director of engagement and curator for Sangamon Experience.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • March 2 – “The Fight for Mother’s Pensions”
  • March 9 – “Women in Politics”
  • March 16 – “A Game of their Own: Female Athletes in Central Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ”
  • March 23 – “Geraldine McGuire and Neighborhood Guys and Gals 4-H Club of Scott County, Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ”
  • March 30 – “Susan Lawrence Dana: Champion for Women’s Rights”

Opened in 2020, Sangamon Experience’s mission is to provides a broad perspective of the history of the Sangamon region through the presentation of a wide variety of exhibitions and activities developed for and from multiple communities.
