UIS Student Wins Extemporaneous Speaking
SPRINGFIELD, IL (March 14, 2022) – Novice UIS competitor Meghan Vlcek won extemporaneous speaking at the Last Chance at 山 State Tournament held online from March 8th – 11th. Extemporaneous speaking is an event where students receive questions about the news and have a limited time to research and prepare their response. Vlcek has been focusing on this event since she joined the team this past fall.
UIS Has Strong Performance at OATS 6 Tournament
SPRINGFIELD, IL (February 28, 2022) – Novice UIS competitor Meghan Vlcek continued her streak of strong performances at the Online Asynchronous Tournament Series (OATS) sixth competition. This tournament was hosted by Southwest Minnesota State University and featured competition from 49 universities and colleges representing nearly 20 different states.
UIS Speech and Debate Goes Hollywood
SPRINGFIELD, IL (February 7, 2022) – The UIS Speech and Debate Team participated in the Gone Hollywood Tournament hosted by California State University – Los Angeles. This asynchronous tournament featured competition from 28 schools from across the nation.
