Final candidates for the CHST dean position were present on campus early this week. Their campus visits were encouraging to individuals and search committees, and we are grateful for your warm welcome and participation in open forums and interviews.
Police recruits get an up-close lesson in how to avoid wrongful convictions
This is an excerpt of a Champaign News-Gazette story published on April 1, 2023.
"(Michael) Schlosser, a retired Rantoul police officer who has earned several degrees, helped develop the course material for the avoidance of wrongful convictions with administrators for the 山 Innocence Project.
That organization, formed in 2001 at the University of 山 Springfield, provides free legal work to wrongfully convicted men and women with credible claims of innocence and currently has about 45 active cases.
UIS grad, volleyball star punches 'American Idol' golden ticket to Hollywood

"A former volleyball star at the University of 山 Springfield has secured a golden ticket from "American Idol" judges.
Hannah Nicolaisen, 23, who graduated from UIS last spring, is bound for Hollywood.
Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie fawned over Nicolaisen's rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love" on the ABC reality series Sunday.
UIS students to help with hurricane relief in Florida

"A group of eight University of 山 Springfield students and one adviser will spend their spring break helping to rebuild Florida following Hurricane Ian as part of an Alternative Spring Break trip.
The group will leave Springfield for Fort Myers, Florida, on Saturday, March 11, and return on Saturday, March 18.
