New updated and condensed version of UIS Professor Michael Burlingame’s book “Abraham Lincoln: A Life” released
John Hopkins University Press has released an abridged and revised version of Michael Burlingame’s 2008 book “Abraham Lincoln: A Life.” Burlingame is the Chancellor Naomi B. Lynn Distinguished Chair in Lincoln Studies at the University of 山 Springfield.
Hailed as the definitive portrait of the sixteenth president, Burlingame's original 2,000-page two-volume set has been updated and condensed by Jonathan W. White. In 2009, the book was named one of the five best books of the year by The Atlantic.
UIS presents the 45th annual International Festival
WHAT: The University of 山 Springfield invites the community to the 45th annual International Festival. The longest-running student-led program in the history of the University, the festival features live cultural performances and samples of food from around the world. Admission is free.

Mental Health Support for Students
As we approach mid-semester, the many responsibilities that our students are balancing may begin to feel overwhelming for them. They may be experiencing the stress of mid-term exams, missing loved ones, worry about world events, or financial stress. Keeping our students healthy is one way to limit the impact of these often-unavoidable life challenges. Some basic strategies for students include good sleep, hygiene, daily movement, and proper nutrition.
Need a New Headshot? Open Photo Studio Sessions are this Month!
The Office of Campus Relations will be hosting two Open Photo Studio sessions for Fall 2023 for all staff or faculty. The photos can be used for university purposes such as department websites, campus directory, speaking engagements at conferences, etc. Any staff or faculty member who either hasn’t had their portrait taken or would like another, more recent, portrait taken are encouraged to attend.
