        <div  class="newsletter-txt">Connor  Krater  (MA  2023)  was  awarded  the  Outstanding  Thesis  Award  at  the  2024  Student  Technology,  Arts  &amp;  Research  Symposium  (STARS),  for  his  thesis  “Metternich  the  Pragmatist:  A  Look  into  Metternich’s  Impact  on  the  Final  Act  of  the  Congress  of  Vienna  in  the  Regions  of  Italy,  Saxony,  and  Poland”.  This  thesis  focuses  on  Clemens  Von  Metternich  as  a  historical  figure,  and  how  narratives  surrounding  him  were  politicized  to  fit  narratives  within  the  Congress  of  Vienna  (1814-1815).</div>

        <div  class="newsletter-txt">All  status  (non-probationary)  Civil  Service  employees  are  invited  to  submit  online  nomination  forms  for  this  year's  Civil  Service  Advisory  Council  (CSAC)  election.



Eight  positions  will  be  filled  this  year,  each  for  a  two  year  term.  Nomination  forms  must  be  received by midnight,  June  14, in  order  to  be  considered.  Self-Nominations  are  allowed  and  welcomed.</div>

        <div  class="newsletter-txt">The  University  of  �山����  Springfield  Center  for  Lincoln  Studies,  in  collaboration  with  the  Abraham  Lincoln  Presidential  Library  and  Museum  and  Juneteenth  Inc.,  will  host  two  events  exploring  the  historical  significance  of  Juneteenth  and  the  struggle  for  Black  citizenship  in  �山����.  Juneteenth  commemorates  the  emancipation  of  enslaved  African  Americans  in  the  United  States,  marking  the  day  when  news  of  their  freedom  reached  Texas  on  June  19,  1865.</div>

        <div  class="newsletter-txt">Kiara  Hobbs  of  Riverton,  �山����  has  been  admitted  to  the  University  of  �山����  Springfield  for  Fall  Semester  2024  and  awarded  a  $28,000  Capital  Scholars  Honors  Program  Scholarship  for  tuition  over  four  years.  At  UIS,  she  plans  to  major  in  criminology  and  criminal  justice.



The  scholarship  is  awarded  based  on  high  school  GPA  and  can  be  renewed  for  a  total  of  four  years  if  the  student  maintains  college  GPA  requirements.



In  high  school,  Hobbs  was  involved  in  Key  Club,  band,  choir,  and  student  council.</div>
