MA Alumnus Receives 2023 UIS Outstanding MA Thesis Award
Connor Krater (MA 2023) was awarded the Outstanding Thesis Award at the 2024 Student Technology, Arts & Research Symposium (STARS), for his thesis “Metternich the Pragmatist: A Look into Metternich’s Impact on the Final Act of the Congress of Vienna in the Regions of Italy, Saxony, and Poland”. This thesis focuses on Clemens Von Metternich as a historical figure, and how narratives surrounding him were politicized to fit narratives within the Congress of Vienna (1814-1815).
Join Your Civil Service Advisory Council (CSAC): Nomination Forms Available for Election
All status (non-probationary) Civil Service employees are invited to submit online nomination forms for this year's Civil Service Advisory Council (CSAC) election.
Eight positions will be filled this year, each for a two year term. Nomination forms must be received by midnight, June 14, in order to be considered. Self-Nominations are allowed and welcomed.

Kiara Hobbs awarded a $28,000 scholarship to attend the University of 山 Springfield
Kiara Hobbs of Riverton, 山 has been admitted to the University of 山 Springfield for Fall Semester 2024 and awarded a $28,000 Capital Scholars Honors Program Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, she plans to major in criminology and criminal justice.
The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.
In high school, Hobbs was involved in Key Club, band, choir, and student council.
