COVID Testing Instructions for the week of July 11
Thank you for your continued flexibility this month to comply with the state testing requirement for unvaccinated students, faculty and staff on our campus. For the week of July 11, UIS will accept COVID-19 test results from any test that has Emergency Use Authorization.
Samaryia Magee named the UIS Employee of the Month for July 2022
Samaryia Magee has been named the University of Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ Springfield Employee of the Month for July 2022. She has worked as a program/student advisor for the UIS Diversity Center since 2018.
Magee’s nominator calls her a “passionate advocate and mentor for students at UIS.” Magee coordinates a variety of programs, including those that specifically support first-generation college students.

Umar Sodiq of Ojo, Nigeria awarded a $4,000 scholarship from the University of Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ Springfield
Umar Sodiq of Ojo, Nigeria, a 2017 graduate of Al-Kawthar Model College, has been admitted to the University of Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ Springfield for Fall Semester 2022 and awarded a $4,000 Lincoln Merit Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, he plans to major in computer science.
The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.
At Al-Kawthar Model College, he played football (soccer) and table tennis.
