Good afternoon:
I hope everyone enjoyed the dose of sunshine we got this weekend! I was glad to be back in Springfield last week following a busy three days in Chicago the prior week for Board of Trustees activities. This week is the Investiture at 2 p.m. Wednesday, and I’m so grateful to everyone who is working hard to make this a special event.

Message from the Interim VCAA/Provost: Summary Report 1.23.23-1.27.23
Dear Faculty and Staff —
The Chancellor’s Cabinet meeting discussed the university’s approach to fall convocation, future plans for commencement, and a faculty colleague’s request that the university could apply for the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching’s classification as a university for “Leadership for Public Purpose.” After discussion, the Chancellor invited colleagues to send ideas to her about such a classification, which could enhance the designated and known character of this University.

The featured speaker was Dr. Gerald McWorter (introduced by Chancellor Gooch) who spoke about the man, the movement, and the mission associated with King’s life and legacy.
