UIS employees honored during annual awards ceremony
University of Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ Springfield employees were honored for their outstanding contributions during an annual awards ceremony held at the Student Union on March 21, 2024. The ceremony, overseen by UIS Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost Brandon Schwab, presented two prestigious awards, the Chancellor’s Academic Professional Excellence (CAPE) Award and the Chancellor’s Award to Recognize Excellence in Civil Service (CARE).
Nathan Essex joins Springfield Park District

The Springfield Park District has appointed Nathan Essex as the director of recreation and marketing, effective March 18.
Originally from Farmington, Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ, Essex relocated to Sangamon County in 2002.
Before joining the Springfield Park District, he served as the principal of Auburn High School from 2012-2023, and as assistant principal for three years prior to that.
