UIS honors outstanding faculty at 2025 Faculty Honors Celebration
The University of Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ Springfield celebrated faculty achievements during the 2025 Faculty Honors Celebration held May 6 in the Student Union Ballroom. Chancellor Janet L. Gooch and Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Brandon E. Schwab presided over the annual event, which recognizes excellence in teaching, service, scholarship and community engagement.
Kattula and Miller Among Major Award Winners at 2024-25 Night of Stars Banquet
UIS Athletics hosted its annual Night of Stars banquet on Monday, April 28, in the Student Union Ballroom, celebrating the 2024–25 athletic year and presenting 12 major departmental awards along with two team awards per sport.
More than 250 Prairie Stars student-athletes, coaches, and staff members gathered to recognize the excellence, leadership, character, and academic achievement that define the UIS athletics experience.

Prairie Stars Return to Marion for GLVC Baseball Tournament
The Ăĺ±±˝űµŘ Springfield baseball team has secured the No. 2 seed in the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship Tournament and will face seventh-seeded Missouri S&T in the opening round on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in Marion, Ill. The matchup is game three of the tournament, hosted for the third straight year at Mountain Dew Park.
A win would advance UIS to Thursday's 4:00 p.m. game, while a loss would place them in the tournament's first elimination game at 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
